Join us at the Drill Hall Gallery on Sunday 5 June at 3pm for Margo Neale’s discussion on the unique series of award-winning publications entitled First Knowledges. Edited by Margo Neale and published by Thames and Hudson, the series introduces Indigenous knowledges in vital areas and explores their relevance to the present day.

1. Songlines by Margo Neale and Lynne Kelly springs from the epic exhibition mounted by the National Museum of Australia in 2017-18 and constitutes an extended meditation on oral culture and the art of memory.

2. Design: Building on Country, by Alison Page and Paul Memmott, advocates for sustainability in design.

3. Country, by Bill Gammage and Bruce Pescoe, investigates Aboriginal land management.

4. Astronomy: Sky Country, by Krystal De Napoli and Karlie Noon, will be launched during the event.

Margo Neale is the Head of the National Museum of Australia’s Indigenous Knowledges Curatorial Centre and an Adjunct Professor of the Australian National University’s Centre for Indigenous History.
