Gesture and Stance – Canberra Dance Theatre responds to sculptures by James Rogers

Collaborating remotely during the recent COVID lockdown, performers from the Canberra Dance Theatre have created a filmed response to the dynamic and performative sculptures of James Rogers.

Spanning 40 years of creation, Rogers’ abstract sculptures range from tumbling coloured plywood spheres to gesticulating curving ribbons of steel, all evoking bodily gesture and human stance. Creatively located in a variety of Canberra landscapes, individual CDT dancers re-imagine and embody the works in moving form.
