Drill Hall Gallery Exhibition Patrons Circle

From Terence Maloon, Drill Hall Gallery Director

We have very loyal friends who love the Drill Hall Gallery and care about the quality and content of our exhibition program. The Exhibition Patrons Circle creates an opportunity to involve our supporters and reinforce the excellence that this gallery aspires to. The limitations of our existing budget for exhibitions has precluded such things as appropriate remuneration for artists, guest curators and writers. With this augmentation to our budget provided by the Exhibition Patrons Circle, we expect to raise our game, fulfil our professional responsibilities, and broaden our team of contributors.

Art has a critical role to play in times of crisis in our community. Art matters – now more than ever.

Liz Ann McGregor, Director, Museum of Contemporary Art, 2020

Will you join us?

Our Exhibition Patrons are a proactive group of philanthropic supporters who are committed to helping the Drill Hall Gallery flourish as a landmark in Canberra’s vibrant art scene. We invite you to join our mission: to present artists and exhibitions of cultural, intellectual and creative merit, which help us make sense of our contemporary world.

Our Patrons enjoy the same social, creative and lifelong learning activities as our Friends, but are invited to extend their support with a philanthropic contribution that collectively will ensure the ongoing vigour of the Drill Hall Gallery’s exhibition program.

Your generosity as a Patron will have a positive ripple effect which will benefit the Gallery’s community of artists, curators, scholars and arts workers, encourage emerging arts professionals, and support the exhibition program in its independence and commitment to excellence. Your contribution will ensure the resilience of the Drill Hall Gallery during a time of deep economic and social uncertainty.

Your donation will go directly to supporting exhibition development costs, and towards presenting a dynamic program of education and engagement activities. Your support will help us to directly connect artists, visiting lecturers, curators, scholars and collectors with you – our valued audiences.

Your support

We invite you to consider committing to at least 2 years as an Exhibition Patron. High-quality exhibitions and artist collaborations often take years to develop. The stability and longevity of your commitment will help us enormously in our forward planning. We welcome your support at one of the following levels:

  • An annual donation of $1500 per year for 2 years (total commitment $3000)
  • An annual donation of $3000 per year for 2 years (total commitment $6000)

You will be the first to hear of the exciting developments enabled by your donation.

Thank you for including the Drill Hall Gallery in your philanthropic plans. Art matters – as does your support.
