Ken Mihara: Kei (Mindscape)#5 2013, multi-fired stoneware
At last count, the Japanese master potter Ken Mihara has obtained 24 prizes and awards for excellence since 1985.
His works have been collected by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum, The Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum, the National Museum of Modern Art Tokyo, and various university art museums ( Cornell, Yale) … now the Australian National University.
This brilliantly improvised composition on newspaper by Tony Tuckson has also been acquired for the ANU collection and sits beautifully with other works in the collection by the artist.
