The curator Jane Kinsman gave an introductory talk about her exhibition “Impressions of Paris: Lautrec, Degas, Daumier” to the Friends of the Drill Hall Gallery on the 27th of February. The exhibition consists of works on paper entirely sourced from the collection of the National Gallery of Australia. While this may not strike you as especially impressive, don’t be fooled. It is more copious, coherent, stimulating and esthetically satisfying than most so-called “blockbusters”. Be sure to catch it before it closes, on the 15th of March.
