Alexander & Friends
PIANO, SOPRANO, VIOLIN
The concert will visit the sounds of German composers Beethoven and Schubert. As well as touch pieces from Tchaikovsky, Puccini, Liszt and a splashing of Latin America.
Alexander Kokic Schmidt – Piano
Alexander is a graduate of the Australian National University School of Music, where he studied his Bachelor of Music under Israeli born pianist Arnan Wiesel. Alexander is a Canberra based classical pianist, composer and piano teacher. He started playing piano when he was 4 years old and learned the foundations of music in Germany. He has presented solo and with ensembles in various venues around Canberra and Sydney, as well as abroad in Germany and Switzerland. Alexander was on the founding committee of the ACT Keyboard association and has performed with ensembles such the Duntroon Military Band. Alexander has also received awards such as the Imad Nassir Prize.
Sarah Berger-Alexander – Soprano
Sarah has been performing locally since the age of seven, has worked as a choral member and soloist since an early age. She has sung with the ANU ChamberChoir, local choir ‘A Chorus of Women’ and has toured with choirs Wayfarers Australia and Gondwana Chorale. She graduated from the ANU with a Bachelor ofMusic in Classical Voice in 2014 and has since been working as a singing teacher.She hopes you enjoy the show.
Joshua Hu – Violin
Joshua is a 4th year student in his final semester of a Commerce and Arts degree. He started playing violin when he was 3, and owes his inspiration to the weekly musical section from the wiggles and his mother’s wooden spoon. Joshua studied with Maestro Julian Quirit until he was 18 and came to ANU in order to pursue a non-music related degree as he wanted to broaden his knowledge base.
