ellipsis and SUPERORGANISM

On Friday 9 May, a magical interlude. Thanks to Andy Butler, the Drill Hall Gallery hosted an evening of completely transporting improvised music by two bands, ellipsis and SUPERORGANISM. One member of the audience, Simon Cottrell, declared it to be the best concert he had heard all year. Hard to disagree. The meditative attunement of each musician to the collective creation – an incredibly subtle flow of spontaneous composition – was absolutely spellbinding. Our heartfelt thanks to Andy Butler, Jon Heilbron, Reuben Lewis, Jenny Barnes, Jack Palmer and (the common element to both bands) the superlative Danish percussionist, master of shading and exquisite embellishment, Christian Windfeld. We hope to see more of them here at the Drill Hall Gallery.
