David Sequeira (1966__)

Through diverse media, David Sequeira contemplates the eternal rhythms of colour and line to reveal our way of seeing and making meaning. The spiritual and aesthetic character of his analytic vision illustrates the commensurability of all things, making the cosmos apparent through the measured, balanced, and limitless beauty of geometry. For Sequeira the music of colour separates everything from nothing, as it opens us to the enabling horizon through which we come to affect each other and imagine our human potential; it is the way in which we wonder about our common condition and our proximity to the infinite.

Sequeira trained for many years as an arts educator before completing his PhD at RMIT in 2011. He has worked for a number of major art institutions in museum education, whilst exhibiting his work extensively throughout Australia and in Asia and the USA. In 2011 he established Everything Nothing Projects in Canberra City, which ran for over two years, exhibiting non-objective and abstract art by formidable figures such as John Nixon and Trevor Richards. Sequeira’s curatorial and visual projects have not only made a significant contribution to Australian abstraction, but have broadened an appreciation of the potential of colour to excite our imagination and form a sense vision.
