LECTURE 3 – SUNDAY 8 MAY-3PM
Professor Ian McLean – How Aborigines invented the idea of contemporary art
Ian McLean is one of Australia’s leading art historians and “the first to write broadly and inclusively about the place of Aboriginal art in contemporary Australian art theory and practice,” according to Professor Horward Morphy.
He will guide us through the recent literature on Aboriginal art and provide a context for understanding current debates and interpretations of this unique and unprecedented intervention in world art.
